return of the great japanese super/tuner cars?

So I was cruisin around on jalopnik.com and saw this and apparently toyota is bringing back the ae86! or something like it but most importantly this...

-Toyota is building a front engined-rear wheel drive vehile with a 6 speed manual transmission
-it looks to be lightweight and small
-rumored to have a 4 banger under the hood....turbo? who knows
-looks to have tremendous tuning potential
-non hybrid! :)
-will make an excellent drift platform
-makes sense for Toyota to build this (huge cult following of the AE86)

In my opinion I believe we could witness history repeat itself, I think we are seeing the return of the japanese supercar era.

Nissan came back with the GT-R which was one of the biggest things to happen to the automotive industry this decade. Toyota/Lexus is building a new supercar...the LF-A/LF-L (Supra replacment) which looks to be more like a land missle aimed directly at the GT-R. I don't pay too much attention to Honda stuff but i know the is rumored to be a new NSX in the works. Nissan put out the 370z which is most definitely in direct competition with the Hyundai Genesis coupe. With all this going on the last thing I need to see now is the return of the S-chassis. The day Nissan releases the S-16 Silvia to compete in the same class as the new Toyota FT-86 is the day that history repeats itself ....and it will be a beautiful day in the automotive world.

keep your fingers crossed!

A tragic loss..RIP Shaun Carlson

....on Oct 4, 2009 one of my very best friends passed away. Shaun Carlson and I have been friends for almost 5 years now and I cannot express how absolutely blessed i feel to have had the opportunity to become such good friends with Shaun. Shaun was absolutely one of the most influential people to ever get involved in racing and he loved everything about it with a passion and it truly showed in his fabrication, cars and personality. He was like an older brother to me and taught me everything i know about racing and gave me a foundation for my profession. Besides always being there when someone needed him and never being too good for anyone or any situation Shaun was extremely focused and passionate about his work and I believe that Shaun had yet to show the world what he was capable of. I am very grateful that i was one of only a few people who was close enough to Shaun to witness this potential. I know Shaun is watching over all of us and it is with great honor that i will always rock a NuFormz sticker on whatever car im driving in honor of the great Shaun Carlson.

You will be forever missed my friend and I pray to see you again sometime.

RIP
